Ceuta Immigrants Are "Saints": Spanish priest Fr Ángel García, founder of the charity Mensajeros de la Paz, described invaders in Ceuta as "saints" because they had remained calm in difficult circumstances. Speaking to laSexta television in Ceuta on August 3, the priest said that many people would have reacted violently in the same circumstances, but the invaders were peacefully waiting for an opportunity to enter the reception centre. His remarks contrast with reports of unrest, including incidents of looting, violence and the carrying of machetes.

Seven years after his death, the Capuchin bishop Juan Rodolfo Laise still lacks a proper grave inscription in the Capuchin cemetery of San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. Bishop Laise became internationally known for defending the practice of receiving Holy Communion on the tongue. During debates within the Argentine Episcopal Conference in 1996 over the introduction of Communion in the hand, he chose not to implement the indult in his diocese, maintaining that receiving Communion on the tongue remained the universal norm of the Church. After retiring, he settled in San Giovanni Rotondo, where he spent his final years serving as a confessor. Although a marble slab was placed over his grave at the time of his burial in 2019, it still bears only the temporary paper funeral notice affixed on the day of his funeral.
