The Rupnik case: 22 previously undisclosed letters from women who belonged to the Slovenian Loyola Community and described alleged abuse by the famed mosaic artist are part of the records of alleged abuse.

22 Previously Unpublished Letters Add to Rupnik Abuse Case Allegations

Twenty-two previously undisclosed letters by members of the former Loyola Community in Slovenia have been included in the Vatican's ongoing canonical criminal trial, according to OSVNews.com (August 6).
The letters were written during Easter 2000 after the community's superior, Sister Ivanka Hosta, asked the 40 sisters to write directly to Rupnik about their relationship with him as part of the Jubilee Year.
The sisters were instructed to describe what had happened and to offer forgiveness in a process of reconciliation. Twenty-two of the letters describe psychological, spiritual or sexual abuse.
The letters are held in the archives of the Loyola Community, now in the custody of the Archdiocese of Ljubljana. Their full contents have not been made public.
According to OSVNews, the letters describe alleged manipulation, coercion, abuse of authority, and physical and sexual assaults. Several sisters said Fr Rupnik used spiritual direction and religious language to pressure them into acts …More

Priest called for ‘Reconquista’ of Morocco after Islamic migrant surge into Spain

Spanish Archdiocese Distances Itself After Priest Calls for Conversion of Morocco

The Archdiocese of Pamplona and Tudela, Spain, has distanced itself on August 5 from comments by one of its priests after he called for the "reconquest of Morocco and its conversion to Christianity" following the invasion into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
In a statement, the archdiocese said Rev. Javier Aizpún's remarks were "strictly personal opinions" that "neither represent nor are shared in any way by this diocesan Church."
The controversy stemmed from a post on X.com in which Aizpún, parish priest of San Juan Evangelista in Huarte and a canon of Pamplona Cathedral, wrote: "May Our Lady of Africa, patron saint of Ceuta, inspire the reconquest of Morocco and its conversion to Christianity. May we finish what Queen Isabella the Catholic left undone."
In subsequent posts, he also called for Spain to "bombard Rabat" and "open fire if necessary" in response to the mass crossing of invaders into Ceuta.
Archbishop Florencio Roselló sought an explanation from Rev. Aizpún, describing the …More

Fr. Winfried Abel condemned the Islamic terror attack on a Berlin ‘pride’ parade but said Christians should view it as a divine ‘call to repentance,’ drawing a rebuke from the local bishop.

German Diocese Distances Itself from Retired Priest: "March of Perversion"

The retired Catholic priest Rev. Winfried Abel, 87, of the Diocese of Fulda, Germany, has come under criticism after publishing a letter (article's picture) in a local newspaper criticizing comments made by Berlin Archbishop Heiner Koch about the city's homosexual march.
The letter was written in the aftermath of the Islamic terrorist attack in Berlin, in which a man drove a van into participants of the annual homosexual march, killing one woman and injuring dozens.
Priest Against "Public Glorification of Perversion"
Archbishop Koch had described the homosexual march as "a joyful and moving celebration." Rev. Abel replied: "A Catholic bishop therefore calls the parade of shamelessness and the public glorification of perversion a 'joyful and moving celebration'?"
He asked: "Have the shepherds of the Church not been entrusted with the prophetic mission of interpreting such events in the light of the Gospel?"
While unequivocally condemning the terrorist attack, Rev. Abel argued that Christians …More

Is Pope Leo maintaining a TLM ‘gray area’?

Last month’s illicit SSPX consecrations and subsequent excommunications raised expectations that Pope Leo might soon act to expand the celebration of the TLM in communities that are in union with Rome. But more than a month later, that expected papal action has not come. Credit: Thoom / Shutterstock. Pope Leo has made a number of small yet tangible gestures towards traditionalist communities in the first year of his pontificate – for example, receiving some of the bishops, cardinals, and religious superiors most closely connected to them, and allowing a traditionalist pilgrimage to celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Those measures have sharpened expectation in some corners that the pope has planned to address longstanding discontent over Francis’ liturgical policy, with a solution friendly to Catholics who prefer the older liturgical rubrics. Last week, though, the prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments said in an interview that Pope Leo …

Meanwhile, organizers of the traditionalist Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage told The Pillar that they have asked permission to celebrate a TLM in Saint Peter’s Basilica this year, but haven’t received a response.
One of Leo’s concrete gestures towards traditionalist communities last year was allowing the celebration of a TLM during the pilgrimage in Saint Peter’s Basilica after not being allowed to do so in 2023 and 2024.
One source said organizers of the pilgrimage intend to ask again after the summer.
“The problem is that in the pope’s close circle, they saw that the Mass helped a lot of people but was also used as propaganda and they didn’t like that,” the source said.
If Pope Leo declines to allow the pilgrimage to celebrate the TLM in St. Peter’s, that could be seen by many observers as a sign that he has grown cold to the idea of abrogating, reforming or even loosening the application Traditiones custodes.
However, it is also possible that the lack of a response is a matter of …More

Card. Sarah: "Man, even contemporary man, absolutely needs God, to hear talk of the Gospel, of eternal life, of spirituality. It is never permissible to reduce the Gospel to social and horizontal themes, however relevant, because it is a failure to fulfill Christ's very will, who sent us to preach eternal salvation, and not social redemption"

"Sinful War Over Liturgy" - Cardinal Sarah

"The Church is, at least in the West, in a time of great difficulty, even of confusion, both at the doctrinal level and at the moral and disciplinary level", Cardinal Robert Sarah told IlFoglio.it on August 2.
For Cardinal Sarah, it is "a tragedy, indeed a real and proper sin", that there is "a kind of war" and "fierce conflicts" over the liturgy.
Main quote: "No one has authority over the rites, which arise from the centuries-long history of the Church. The rites cannot be arbitrarily abolished, and no one can say that a rite no longer exists from one day to the next."
The Cardinal wants to return to Benedict XVI.'s Summorum Pontificum, which allows the Mass in the Roman rite alongside the Novus Ordo: "Over the decades, the holy people of God will be able to choose which form best corresponds to their need for faith, silence and spirituality."
He added: "Some excesses on the part of those attached to the extraordinary form are, in part, justified by the dramatic and widespread abuses …More

Bishop Schneider: ‘Nothing more dangerous for religion’ than liturgical ‘interference’

"Preserving the Liturgy Is Part of Preserving the Faith" – Bishop Schneider

"Preserving the precious treasure of the traditional liturgy is part of preserving the Deposit of Faith," Bishop Athanasius Schneider said in his homily on August 2 in Limerick, Ireland, at the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.
He is currently celebrating Mass and delivering talks in various locations across Ireland, including Cobh, Leixlip, Monaghan and Ardee. Previously, he was in Africa. In July, he led the golden jubilee celebrations of the Congregation of the Mothers and Missionaries of the Holy Cross in Puma, Tanzania.
Interfering with the Liturgy Destroys Religion
In Sunday's homily, Bishop Schneider recalled that "history has proved a thousand times that there is nothing more dangerous for a religion - nothing more likely to result in discontent, unrest, division, and apostasy - than interference with the liturgy and, consequently, with religious sensibility."
He recalled the apostolic rule: "Antiquity was retained. Novelty was rejected." Quoting Dom Prosper Guéranger …More

What can synodality possibly give us? Well, the Church was already full of foxes, and now it will be even more so. Jesus Christ founded a hierarchical, non-democratic Church. It's not that Catholicism isn't democratic, but rather that it's anti-democratic, because Jesus Christ was condemned to death democratically.

Archdiocese Installs Cemetery Memorial for Those Who Committed Suicide to Aid Grieving Family Members

Dangerous precedent set in Chicago… Archdiocese Installs Cemetery Memorial for Those Who Committed Suicide to Aid Grieving Family Members Chicago Vicar General ‘Bishop’ Larry Sullivan presided over the dedication ceremony on June 26, 2026 Just as the state of Illinois is getting ready to implement so-called ‘medical aid in dying’ — also known as physician-assisted suicide or, euphemistically, euthanasia — the Archdiocese of Chicago is basically assuring its flock that suicide is a ticket to Heaven. Illinois’ suicide-enabling so-called ‘End of Life Options Act’ was signed by Gov. Jay Robert Pritzker on Dec. 12, 2025. It is scheduled to take legal effect on Sep. 12, 2026, pending the outcome of a lawsuit filed by disability advocates and patients to block it. Meanwhile, the ‘Roman Catholic’ Archdiocese of Chicago, still led by the insufferable ‘Cardinal’ Blase Cupich, has become the first in the nation to dedicate a memorial to victims of suicide and their loved ones at one of its …

Both Slaves and Slaveowners' - Leo XIV on Family History

Pope Leo XIV talked on July 29 with Tom Llamas (NBC) about his heritage and what it means to be the first pope from the US.
“First of all, just to clarify, I think of myself more as the pope who happens to be American, not to belittle what it means to be American”, Leo XIV said.
Leo XIV loves about America “the sense of freedom, the sense of opportunity, the sense of having invited for generations people from around the world to be part of America.”
Discussing his family's heritage, he said, “I come from a family where my grandparents were immigrants. On my mother’s side, we have people who were both slaves and slave owners.”
Llamas also asked when the pope will visit the United States. “In the next couple of years,” Leo answered.
The interview was Leo XIV's first interview with a US television journalist, and it aired alongside the Concert for Peace, marking the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi's death, featuring Andrea Bocelli and a 200-child interfaith choir from conflict-…More

Surprising that Wester isn't taking up a collection for the mosque building fund....

US Archbishop Defends Mosque as Muslims' "God-Given Right"

Pro-homosexual Archbishop John C. Wester of Santa Fe, New Mexico, defended "our Muslim neighbors' right to worship" in a July 27 statement.
He had heard in recent weeks concerns from some residents regarding the proposal to build a mosque and community center in Albuquerque's North Valley.
"Our Muslim neighbors have the same God-given and constitutionally protected right to worship freely as every other faith community, including our own. Defending that right is not only a civic duty but a core element of Catholic teaching", the Archbishop wrote.
According to Monsignor Wester, supporting the construction of a mosque is entirely consistent with Catholic tradition and moral commitments. He urged Catholics to "choose respect, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence."
In 2025, it emerged that, Archbishop Wester promoted and lived with a priest who had spent ten years in a registered homosexual relationship.
