He took a seat in the front row at St Peter's Church in Leuven. During this Novus Ordo, verses from the Quran (26:69–70) were chanted in Arabic. The liturgy also included contributions from the Jewish, Protestant and Anglican communities. A university representative informed AdVaticanum that the University Parish's decision to incorporate interreligious contributions had been made "in consultation with the Rectorate and the Flemish bishops". Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich described (the Church’s two millennia of belief) the process of synodality initiated by Pope Francis as “irreversible.” At the same time, referring to the Church in Europe, Cardinal Hollerich told Kurier.at that this “process of decline is also a process of healing.”
Decline is destruction, which leads to death. Healing is growth, with strength and endurance, which produces good health, both spiritually and physically.

A 'ritual concert' featuring shamanic elements was held inside a medieval Spanish church. On September 18, Barcelona’s Romanesque church of Sant Pau del Camp hosted a “ritual concert” by Kuyay Santosha. The event featured ancestral chants, improvisation and music presented as a bridge between the human and "the sacred". Santosha describes her work through healing music, ancient spiritual ritual, and uses instruments including a shamanic drum. Tickets cost €25. Sant Pau del Camp is being used for the Novus Ordo.
A bakery in Chiclayo, Peru, has launched “Dulce Bendición,” a Pope-shaped version of King Kong. This local dessert is made from layers of biscuit and manjar blanco, a milk-caramel filling. The first 500, shaped like Pope Leo XIV, sold out on launch day. The bakery plans to make up to 1,000 a day in November, when Leo XIV visits Peru.

The Vatican has released the programme for Leo XIV’s visit to Latin America, his longest foreign trip to date. On Monday, the Vatican released the detailed itinerary for Leo XIV’s November 6–17 visit to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru. Over nearly 12 days, Leo XIV will travel roughly 31,000 kilometres by air, with stops in: - Montevideo, Paysandú and Florida in Uruguay; - Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Luján in Argentina; - Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco and Pucallpa in Peru. The packed schedule includes nine public Masses and three prayer vigils, as well as meetings with political leaders, bishops, clergy, young people, workers and representatives of other Christian communities and religions. All three legs combine official state visits with pastoral visits. In Uruguay, November 6–8, Leo will visit the socially disadvantaged Casavalle area of Montevideo, hold a vigil at the Estadio Centenario and celebrate Mass at the national Marian shrine in Florida. Yesterday, Bishop Jan Hendriks of Haarlem-Amsterdam administered Confirmation in the traditional rite and celebrated his first Pontifical High Mass according to the 1962 Missal at St Agnes Church, marking 20 years of the FSSP apostolate in Amsterdam. The traditional Mass has been celebrated there since 2006. St Agnes became the St Joseph Personal Parish for the traditional rite in 2013.

The YARN British police questioned a Christian street preacher after complaints that his Bible sermon was racist and homophobic, despite admitting they had not heard it and could not identify the offending words. He denied the claims, produced his own recording and was neither arrested nor charged in the exchange. Officers repeatedly suggested that a listener feeling harassed, alarmed or distressed could establish a public-order offence. It cannot. Section 5 of the Public Order Act requires threatening or abusive conduct likely to cause that result. Section 4A also requires intent. A complainant’s perception may trigger a hate-related police record, but it cannot create an underlying crime. Britain’s Court of Appeal exposed this danger in the Harry Miller case, finding that police guidance on non-crime hate incidents unlawfully chilled freedom of expression. SAINT THOMAS OF VILLANOVA - September 22 Bishop (1488-1555) After receiving his religious habit from the order of St. Augustine, St. Thomas gained a reputation as a powerful and effective preacher. He was promoted as King Charles V's consultant and used his position to denounced ecclesiastical abuses and hold churchmen accountable. He also sent Augustinian missionaries to Mexico. He was highly favored by Spanish royalty because of his brilliance and humility. St. Thomas accepted the Archbishopric of Valencia upon the order of his superiors. The promotion made no change to his ascetic lifestyle and he continued wearing the monastic habit. He received and housed the poor at his residence and gave the money used for refurnishing it to construct a public hospital. Meanwhile, he established an administrative system to unify different parishes, founded orphanages and schools and improved conditions in Spain's penal system. Cardinal Reinhard Marx, 73, of Munich promised Francis to bring Germany’s Synodal Path together with the universal Church’s synodal process. He told Katholisch.de: “I promised Pope Francis at the time that I would personally advocate for the Synodal Path in Germany to come together with the universal Church’s synodal process.” Cardinal Marx also argued that the German process cannot simply conclude by sending demands to Rome. Instead, the focus should be on what the Church in Germany can do itself, particularly at diocesan level. He stressed that the diocese, rather than a national structure, should be the central arena for synodality.
