‘Three Homilies on the Devil’ ~ Saint John Chrysostom - Homily 2. ‘On the Power of Man to Resist the Devil.’ ~ ‘Against those who object…’; point 1

[Saint John Chrysostom – IV-V Century AD; born: Antioch, Roman Empire/died: Comana, Eastern Roman Empire; aged 59-60, Archbishop; Church Father; Doctor of the Church; "golden-mouthed"]
Against those who object because the devil has not been put out of the world: and to prove that his wickedness does no harm to us—if we take heed: and concerning repentance.
1. When Isaac, in old time, was desirous to eat a meal at the hands of his son
, he sent his son forth from the house to the chace. But when this Isaac was desirous to accept a meal at my hands he did not send me forth from the house, but himself ran to our table. What could be more tenderly affectionate than he? What more humble? Who thought fit to show his warm love thus, and deigned to descend so far. On this account surely, we also having spent the tones of our voice, and the strength of our feet over the morning discourse, when we saw his fatherly face, forgot our weakness, lay aside our fatigue, were uplifted with pleasure; we …More

"For if you lettest the adversary remain, the more slothful are injured, not on account of the more diligent, but by their own slothfulness; whereas if you takest away the antagonist, the more diligent are betrayed on account of the slothful, and neither exhibit their own power, nor win crowns."

🌈 Cardinal: Traditional Mass Must Yield to Church Unity

“I do deeply sympathise with people whose love of the Tridentine Mass has led them into tension with the hierarchy,” pro-homosexual Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe claimed talking to AdVaticanum.com on August 31.
He called some of them his friends and "hates to see them pained."
However: “But it is good always to remember that the Eucharist is the sacrament of our unity in Christ.”
Cardinal Radcliffe believes that “the sacrament can never become a sign of disunity” with the Church.
His conclusion: “However painful it might be, if the Church declares that a rite is not to be used, however much one might love it, it cannot be good to let its celebration be a source of division.”
Cardinal Radcliffe recommends celebrating the Novus Ordo in Latin “with great dignity and solemnity.”

Engineering Failure the Nepal-Tibet Floods
A "Six Sigma" event just scoured the Himalayas, leaving a trail of destruction that defies modern engineering. As the waters recede, a disturbing reality is emerging, while rescue teams search hydroelectric tunnels for survivors, the Chinese military is already fast-tracking the reconstruction of border stations on the exact same "kill zone" plateaus that were just wiped clean. The scale of this disaster is a wake-up call for the entire planet.

‘The Perpetual Virginity of Mary’ by Saint Jerome – Proposition 1st. ‘That Joseph was only putatively, not really, the husband of Mary’ – point 16

[Saint Jerome – IV-V Century AD; born: Stridon, Roman Empire/died: Bethlehem, Palaestina Prima; Translation of the Bible into Latin – Vulgate; Doctor of the Church]
16. Now here we have the explanation of what I am endeavouring to show, how it is that the sons of Mary, the sister of our Lord's mother, who though not formerly believers afterwards did believe, can be called brethren of the Lord. Possibly the case might be that one of the brethren believed immediately while the others did not believe until long after, and that one Mary was the mother of James and Joses, namely, Mary of Clopas, who is the same as the wife of Alphæus, the other, the mother of James the Less. In any case, if she (the latter) had been the Lord's mother S. John would have allowed her the title, as everywhere else, and would not by calling her the mother of other sons have given a wrong impression. But at this stage I do not wish to argue for or against the supposition that Mary the wife of Clopas and Mary the …More

"Here is an example of the rule already referred to, by which a nephew is called a brother. And again, Genesis 29:15 Laban said unto Jacob. Because you are my brother, should you therefore serve me for nought? Tell me what shall your wages be. And so, when, at the end of twenty years, without the knowledge of his father-in-law and accompanied by his wives and sons he was returning to his country, on Laban overtaking him in the mountain of Gilead and failing to find the idols which Rachel hid among the baggage, Jacob answered and said to Laban, Genesis 31:36-37 What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have so hotly pursued after me? Whereas you have felt all about my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and your brethren, that they may judge between us two. Tell me who are those brothers of Jacob and Laban who were present there? Esau, Jacob's brother, was certainly not there, and Laban, the son of Bethuel, had no brothers although …More

Why Spiritus principalis?
The Genesis, Intentions, and Sacramental Problem of the New Rite of Episcopal Consecration of 1968
Introductory Note — Central Point of the Controversy

The question examined in this article is precise: do the historical and theological sources invoked for the 1968 rite establish that Spiritus principalis means unambiguously the fullness of the Sacrament of Holy Orders conferred upon the bishop? If they show that this expression is associated with the Holy Spirit and with the function of episcopal governance, they are not, by themselves, sufficient to demonstrate that Spiritus principalis technically means the potestas Ordinis. It is precisely this transition from the Spirit of governance to the sacramental power of Holy Orders that constitutes the decisive theological point of the controversy.

First meeting of German Synodal Conference cancelled The first meeting of the proposed Synodal Conference of the Catholic Church in Germany has been cancelled after the Vatican failed to approve its statutes. The decision leaves the next stage of the country’s controversial Synodal Way without a date to begin. The meeting had been scheduled for November 6 and 7 in Stuttgart.
