The share of adults identifying as Catholic has declined sharply across much of Latin America over the past decade. The number of people with no religious affiliation has risen, according to a January 21 Pew Research Center report. This marks a shift in a region where more than 90% of people were Catholic around 1900. The report, Catholicism Has Declined in Latin America Over the Past Decade is based on surveys of more than 6,200 adults in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru conducted in spring 2024. Comparing the results with a similar 2013–14 survey, Pew found that the Catholic share fell by at least 9 percentage points in all six countries. Today, Catholics make up 46% of adults in Brazil and Chile, 58% in Argentina, 60% in Colombia, and 67% in both Mexico and Peru. A decade ago, all six countries had Catholic majorities of roughly six-in-ten or more adults. ope Leo XIV’s new Secretary for the Dicastery for Clergy is Archbishop Carlo Roberto Maria Redaelli—known for refusing to condemn a homosexual “marriage” of a Catholic scout leader and instead promoting “welcome, discernment and integration,” per Pope Francis’ teaching
Leo XIV today appointed Monsignor Carlo Roberto Maria Redaelli, 69, until now Archbishop of Gorizia, Italy, as Secretary of the Dicastery for the Clergy. Carlo Roberto Maria Redaelli (born 1956 in Milan) is a canon lawyer who served for many years in the Archdiocese of Milan before becoming Archbishop of Gorizia in 2012. He holds a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he specialized in the nature of Church law in the post–Vatican II period. Promoting Homosexuality In June 2017, in Staranzano, a small town in the Diocese of Gorizia, a leader of the Catholic Scout movement (AGESCI) entered into a homosexual civil union. The parish priest, Don Francesco Fragiacomo, stated that, as a consequence of this choice, he could no longer retain his role as a Catholic educator. Archbishop Redaelli intervened publicly and stabbed the priest in the back. The anti-Catholic slogans of Monsignor Redaelli were: One must seek the “grace present in every situation” and …More
Leftist women and their Romper Room mentality: Whether it’s the newest entrant into the Star Trek world or a day in court, leftist women, with their relentless faux “mommy-ness” demean our world.
One of my earliest memories dates to when I was three or, at most, four. Every day, I was glued to our black-and-white TV watching Romper Room, a television show for preschoolers. Miss Nancy opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and then conducted a 30-minute preschool class. This is what Miss Nancy was like back in the 1960s: It’s very sweet, very loving, very patriotic, and very appropriate for the 3-5-year-old set. But what happens when an entire political party is taken over by a horde of Miss Nancys? And worse, what happens when those Miss Nancys don’t focus their energy on raising normal, patriotic children (indeed, they want fewer children in the world, and think infanticide through abortion is brilliant), and instead want to use their warped maternal longings to scold and dominate the world? Well, to begin with, you have Holly Hunter in the new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which is being roundly castigated as the worst show ever in a swiftly declining franchise. Once, Starfleet …
ICE detains 4 Columbia Heights students, including 5- and 10-year-olds sent to Texas Federal agents seized a 5-year-old boy from his driveway during an immigration enforcement operation, with school officials saying he was used as ‘bait.’ He is the fourth Columbia Heights student detained by ICE in recent weeks as sweeps intensify across the Twin Cities region. The boy was transported to Texas with his father despite their family’s active asylum case, prompting questions about the necessity of his detention. A 5-year-old boy arriving home from preschool in Minnesota was taken by federal agents along with his father to a detention facility in Texas, school officials and the family’s lawyer said, making him the latest child caught up in the immigration enforcement surge that has riled the Twin Cities in recent weeks. Federal agents took Liam Conejo Ramos from a running car while it was in the family’s driveway on Tuesday afternoon, Columbia Heights Public Schools Superintendent Zena …More

Requiescat in pace 61-ročný vatikanista John L. Allen zomrel po boji s rakovinou. The article reports that Vatican insiders consider it possible that Pope Leo XIV may intervene again with a formal rite of reparation, as he did months ago after a similar desecration, although no decision has been announced for this new case. The current incident involved a man vandalizing the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Peter’s Basilica, damaging a crucifix attributed to Bernini and throwing sacred objects to the ground, including the monstrance with the consecrated host. The act is deemed especially grave because it desecrated the Eucharist, but authorities have reportedly asked for silence about it. The piece highlights growing security challenges as pilgrim numbers rise, with repeated disruptive acts despite controls.
