Rioters have reached the area surrounding the Louvre Museum in Paris following a weekend of widespread violence, looting and arson across France. The Louvre has restricted visitor access amid the unrest. There is currently no confirmation that the museum itself has been attacked. President Emmanuel Macron is expected to address the nation at 8pm local time this evening.

Bishop Beat Grögli of St. Gallen, Switzerland, has defended the practice of women delivering homilies at Mass, although canon law defines the homily as an inherent part of the liturgy. Kath.ch reported on October 8 that Bishop Grögli told a group of women that this prohibited practice had existed in his diocese for nearly 50 years. He suggested that reversing the practice would be incomprehensible.
