Today, Cardinal Robert Sarah delivered an address at the European Parliament in Brussels. He noted that the European Union uses development aid and international agreements to export abortion and gender ideology to African nations. He spoke of "ideological colonization", arguing that modern Europe increasingly seeks to influence African legislation through trade agreements, development assistance, and diplomatic pressure. Words Have a Meaning Opening his address, Sarah questioned whether Europe and Africa still share a common understanding of the language that dominates international diplomacy. "Can we still understand each other? Do the words we use - human rights, dignity, development, freedom, health, gender, family - still mean the same thing to those who pronounce them in Brussels, Strasbourg, Kampala, or Conakry?" Inconsistency Is Deliberate One of his examples is the expression “sexual and reproductive health” that often means abortion. Another example is the term “gender equality …ተወሳኺ
"One does not care for life by giving death," Father François Yambressinga, parish priest of La Madeleine in Châteaudun, said during his July 5 homily, before the French National Assembly's final vote on legalizing euthanasia tomorrow. He urged the faithful to "pray for life" and to "pray for parliamentarians so that they do not do just anything." Among the congregation was Philippe Vigier, the bill's general rapporteur. He is also the mayor of Châteaudun and a member of the National Assembly for Les Démocrates. Vigier attended the Mass because it was part of the town's annual Foire aux Laines medieval festival. Civic officials appear in costume. He sat in the front row dressed as the fifteenth-century military commander Jean de Dunois. Afterward, Vigier told L'Écho Républicain that he felt personally targeted and "deeply hurt" by the homily. "The priest appealed to the congregation while I had no opportunity to respond. That is unacceptable," he said. According to witnesses cited by …ተወሳኺ
During the Mass on July 5, at the Church of the Madeleine in Châteaudun, Father François Yambressinga condemned the proposed law on assistance in dying in his homily, while Deputy-Mayor Philippe Vigier, co-general rapporteur of the bill, was seated in the front row. The elected official, who said he felt "personally attacked," then spoke with the priest after the celebration. The latter is supported by the Bishop of Chartres.
The controversial organisation Amnesty International UK published a report on 8 July listing the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales among 117 organizations it described as part of an “anti-rights movement” in the United Kingdom. The report, A Growing Threat: the Anti-Rights Movement in the UK, said the listed organizations formed an ecosystem seeking to undermine the rights of women and homosexuals. It also named the Catholic Medical Association, Premier Christian News, J.K. Rowling’s women-only support service Beira’s Place, and a number of Christian, pro-life, and gender-critical organizations. The report defined “anti-rights actors” as groups, individuals, and public or private bodies seeking to weaken human rights protections in law and practice. The publication drew criticism from a number of the organizations named. Two days after publication, Amnesty International UK withdrew the report. It said the document had been published without passing the organization's …ተወሳኺ
France Adopts Assisted Dying Law: Today, France's National Assembly voted 291–241 to adopt legislation legalizing assisted dying. While individual healthcare professionals may refuse to participate, Catholic hospitals and care homes are denied an institutional conscience clause.
Adoption de la loi sur l’aide à mourir - Par 291 voix contre 241 la loi est adoptée. Les catholiques attendent désormais une réaction forte de l’Église de France, à la hauteur de la désolation et des conséquences que cette loi entraînera
Bishop Hieronymus Emusugut Joya of Maralal, Kenya, has suspended six diocesan priests as part of a sweeping package of measures. They are aimed at strengthening discipline and financial accountability. The suspensions follow allegations of abuse of ecclesiastical authority, administrative negligence, and the mismanagement of Church property. Announcing the decision during Mass on 12 July, Bishop Joya said he had acted only after receiving credible evidence. The suspensions affect a significant proportion of the diocese's clergy. Established by St. John Paul II in 2001, the diocese has 15 parishes served by 30 diocesan priests. Alongside the suspensions, Bishop Joya introduced a series of disciplinary and administrative directives for clergy, including: - Priests must return to their residences by 7:00 p.m. for evening prayer. - Priests require the bishop's permission to spend the night away from their residence. - No lay person may stay overnight in a priest's residence without prior …ተወሳኺ
Conference during the Congress of the Third Order of Carmel, in Sao Paulo, November 15th 1958 (*) by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira The topic I was given to speak about at this brilliant congress of the Third Order of Carmel is “the scapular and profession in the Third Order of Carmel constitute principally an act of consecration to Our Lady. This truth must be spread with great zeal for a deeper and more perfect knowledge of the Carmelite spirituality.” The statement of thesis manifests the praiseworthy purpose of avoiding that the Third Order of Carmel remains just in externals. In effect, the scapular is a tangible object that symbolizes in a very sensitive way our connection to Our Lady. But it is precisely because this symbol represents those qualities that certain spirits easily fall into the idea that its mere ownership and use are enough to maintain a connection to Our Lady. Also the profession in the Third Order of Carmel, habitually done in such a solemn and festive way, speaks …ተወሳኺ
"It is obviously possible to be fully Catholic while living the sacramental life according to the books of 1962. It is absolutely unacceptable to affirm the contrary", Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke told the organisers of the Chartres pilgrimage ‘Notre-Dame de Chrétienté’ in a July 14 YouTube.com video. And: "The liturgy according to the usus antiquior of the Roman Rite is an inestimable treasure of the Church which must be preserved and cherished because it is intimately linked to the very identity of the Roman Catholic Church." Cardinal Burke argued that the Roman rite has proven to be a powerful instrument of evangelization: “It is evident that this liturgy is missionary," he said. "This is seen by its fruits today as in centuries past, because it attracts through its sense of the sacred and transcendence." He added that this is "particularly evident with the younger generation," which he said has "a profound hunger for the spiritual in an increasingly horizontal world." Vatican II …ተወሳኺ
This is certainly true. The anti TLM gang had secret meetings in the middle of the night when most were asleep, and the measures passed with those few in attendance. So, in the morning, it was too late as the motions were passed and Paul VI signed them. This whole affair makes Watergate look like a small girl's tea party.
Nearly 500 years after the Protestant Reformation, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass returned to Bayham Old Abbey in Kent "We give thanks for our faith, the faith of our fathers, and we give thanks because from the ruins of worldly crises, God continues to plant the seeds of new growth" - Fr Stephen Morrison Source: Archdiocese of Southwark
Fantastic article. Shame about the Vatican isn't it? I wonder why they did this, "Because the specific 1949 excommunication of communist Catholics was not incorporated into the 1983 Code, that automatic canonical penalty is no longer in effect." Ah make the Catholic Church safe for communists again!
