Fr Gerald Murray's position on SSPX: "This cannot be minimized as simply a divergence or a discussion; this is a matter of breaking with the pope. I'm glad with what Cardinal Müller say that not just a theoretical submission to the pope, but an actual submission to his authority. It's is a very bad thing. The Society should not do this."
Why don't we start seeing the reality that the supposed Pope is not in communion with either God or the Church? And joining a false pope is apostasy and schism.
The Church was never a democracy. In fact Pope Leo XIII declared such an approach to theological and ecclesial matters ("Americanism") as a heresy. (Now, Rome thinks it is the bees knees and call it "Synodality".) The church has a very clear hierarchy with each individual having specific role and authority. The term "competence" is used for the authority related to your specific role. Deciding if a person recognized as Pope is actually not Pope belongs to future popes or a church council. So, speaking for myself, I don't have the competence to declare Leo antipope, heretic, or lunatic, even if he is all three. I am obliged to follow the Apostolic Faith and to learn enough of it to identify and ignore Leo's heresies.
There is a schism when the teachings of a legitimate pope are resisted or disobeyed. If you recognize Bergoglio as Pope, for example, you are obligated to obey his apostate pseudo-magisterium of Fiducia Supplicans, Amoris Laetitia, and Abu Dhabi, which, incidentally, indicates that he was not infallible in matters of faith and morals, thus demonstrating that he was not the pope. The same applies to the pseudo-magisterium of Prevost. Who has said that antipopes have the rights or privileges of a pope? According to your reasoning, no imposter could be judged.
A false pope is not above the Magisterium of the Church, which has already declared in perpetuity that the election of a heretic is invalid and null, even if he had been elected by the cardinals.

The most convenient position for evading responsibility is for you to believe you have the 'power' to disobey the 'ordinary Magisterium' of a heretical 'pope' while ignoring that he is a heretic so that, according to you, you are not 'schismatic'.
The situation is not that simple. We have the SSPX who strictly says mass using the Roman Site. And Rome, who has worked for the suppression of the Roman Rite, instead preferring the innovation of the Novus Ordo, which has been created to accommodate Protestantism. There is also the "little matter" of Quo Primum, an Apostolic Constitution whose authority has not been abrogated.
And so we have Rome, actively working to undermine itself, all the while trying to convince others to join the demolition.
Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intelligent life down here,.
Inevitably, the Church is moving toward complete separation with the antichurch: SSPX is just the first step, eventually all orthodox clergy and laymen will be excommunicated one way or another from Bergoglio/Prevost sect (which is NOT Catholic Church). Woe to those who try to sit on two chairs like this priest because they will have it the toughest
There is also a Cannon 1752, which includes the caution, "the salvation of souls, which must always be the supreme law in the Church, is to be kept before one’s eyes."
Fr. Murray should be asked, "Would the preservation of the SSPX or the absorption into the Synodal Church be best for the salvation of souls?"
Fr. Murray is clinging, appropriately, to his vow of obedience. That is, and should be, the first response. But, the salvation of souls is the whole reason for the incarnation, it overrules all other rules.
