C’è un legame profondo che unisce il Santuario di Genazzano al resto del mondo... e oggi, questo legame si arricchisce di un capitolo storico. Lo scorso 26 dicembre — nel cuore della regione lettone della Latgalia — la bellissima chiesa barocca di San Domenico a Pasiene è diventata ufficialmente il Santuario Nazionale della Madre del Buon Consiglio. È stato un momento di grande emozione per tutto il Paese... un evento seguito con attenzione persino dalla televisione nazionale. Ma il momento più toccante della celebrazione è stato l’arrivo della nostra immagine miracolosa. Si tratta di una copia fedele dell'originale, giunta nel Nord Europa dopo un cammino spirituale molto speciale. La Madre del Buon Consiglio che da Scutari miracolosamente arrivò a Genazzano per sfuggire alle invasioni barbariche dei musulmani, è un baluardo contro i musulmani e i comunisti. Per secoli ha dato al santo condottiero Scanderberg coraggio indomito e poteri eccezionali nella lotta contro i musulmani, fino a sconfiggere eserciti di 200.000 musulmani con appena 30.000 soldati sia albanesi che provenienti su invito del papa da varie parti d'Europa. A Genazzano dal 1467 l'affresco che si è accostato, senza alcun sostegno (quale miracolo perpetuo) alla parete della Cappella esistente in quel luogo poi diventata grande Santuario. Canadese, è la fondatrice della congregazione delle Suore di Sant'Anna, che si dedicano principalmente all'educazione dei bambini. A lei da ragazza era mancata proprio una scuola cattolica e francofona nel Quebec, dove era nata nel 1809 a Terrebonne, territorio dominato da protestanti inglesi e per tale ragione nei primi anni d'infanzia rimase analfabeta. A vent'anni entrò nelle suore di Notre-Dame, ma poi ne uscì per motivi di salute. Divenuta direttrice di una scuola, fondò successivamente la sua congregazione, pronunciando i voti davanti al vescovo di Montreal con altre compagne nel 1850 e mutando il secondo nome in Anna. Morì il 2 gennaio 1890 a Lachine, sempre in Canada, a causa della polmonite. È stata beatificata da Giovanni Paolo II in piazza San Pietro, a Roma, il 29 aprile 2001. …More
