Rome Seals Jubilee; Hope Endures Beyond Doors | Shalom World News As the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope has come to a close on 6 January 2026, a solemn ceremony took place on Tuesday night, January 13, as the Holy Door of the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore was sealed in a ceremonial rite led by Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, with Monsignor Ľubomír Welnitz and Fr Diego Giovanni Ravelli in attendance. A bronze box was placed within the wall, containing the closing protocol, keys, pontifical medals dating back to 2016, and a commemorative basilica medal. Similar rites are scheduled for the Basilica of Saint John Lateran (Wednesday), Saint Paul Outside the Walls (Thursday), and St. Peter’s Basilica (Friday) as part of the Jubilee’s conclusion. The Jubilee, opened by Pope Francis on Christmas Eve 2024 and officially concluded by Pope Leo, invites the faithful to deeper conversion and mercy. Traditionally celebrated every 25 years, the next Ordinary Jubilee is anticipated in 2033, a year …More
01/16/2026 Entire blog as a free PDF eBook. This motto was proclaimed in 1939 by Polish Marshal Edward Rydz Śmigły. At that time, it concerned German demands regarding Gdynia and the Free City of Danzig. There is no need to mention how that turned out. Today, history is repeating itself, but there are fundamental differences. We have an unprecedented situation in which friends with an 80-year history are beginning to quarrel. The danger of an occupation of Greenland by the US threatens only Denmark, whose colony this island is. It would be different if Trump were to go much further and take over Canada in one way or another. The French islands in Canada are the archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, an autonomous overseas territory of France in the Atlantic Ocean, near the coast of Newfoundland. These islands are also remnants of French colonies. Therefore, I am not surprised that Emmanuel Macron, who has shown “solidarity” with Denmark, has decided to support Denmark by sending 15…
Leo XIV’s consistory in January did not involve a general debate, Cardinal Raymond Burke told Edward Pentin for his Substack.com-account on 16 January. The consistory adopted a format closer to Francis’s synods, with discussion confined almost entirely to small groups:"All the discussion took place in the small group, and then in the general session there was simply a report from the secretaries." Divide and Conquer Burke added that the way the consistory was structured did not allow for so-called free interventions. The two plenary sessions permitted only brief interventions: "Each intervention was limited to three minutes, so just 15 cardinals could speak in one session." With more than 160 cardinals present, many were left unheard. In the small groups, "the topics were assigned, and then there was a whole structure that had to be followed at the tables". Every Pope Appoints the Bishops He Wants Beyond the consistory itself, Cardinal Burke expressed concerns about the Pope’s many …More
16.01.2026 LIST OF PRIESTS NEEDED WHO INTERPRET VATICAN COUNCIL II RATIONALLY ALIGNED WITH THE ROMAN MISSAL AND TRADITION Latin Mass groups must make films and publish articles which show there is a new discovery within the Catholic Church which supports the Roman Missal and the Latin Mass and not Pope Leo and cardinals Roche and Fernandez. THE FILM The film, like the one on Charlotte, North Carolina, mentions the closure or restrictions on the Latin Mass. This is being done by bishops who interpret Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church irrationally and so unethically. They also support new versions of the Creeds, Councils and Catechisms, which make obsolete the exclusivist ecclesiology of the Roman Missal at the Latin Mass. It creates exceptions for also the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the Athanasius Creed and the Syllabus of Pope Pius IX. This is public heresy and schism since now it is known that Magisterial Documents can be re-interpreted rationally …More
GROK A German left-winger who faked and sent out letters purportedly written by right-wing opposition party Alternative for Germany (AfD) had been acquitted by a court in Berlin. In a verdict dated January 13, the Tiergarten District Court ruled the activist’s actions did indeed fulfil the criteria for document forgery – a criminal offence. However, the culprit’s actions could be construed as satire and were covered by artistic freedom, it said. In November 2023, Philipp Ruch had sent out letters to nine members of AfD. He used the party’s official logo and copied the signatures of its leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla, giving the impression that the forgeries were official letters from the leadership of Germany’s main opposition party. The letters urged recipients to report “relevant circumstances” from within the party which might aid German authorities in their ongoing struggle to ban AfD. Ruch asked for excerpts from group chats, pictures of weapons or recordings of meetings …
We’re funny creatures, really. We sit down for dinner and complain about the soup. That same bowl would be a miracle to someone who hasn’t eaten in days. But we’re not hungry — we’re picky. We walk into an empty apartment and curse the loneliness. That same space would feel like heaven to someone sleeping in a train station. But we’re not homeless — we’re insatiable. We look in the mirror and circle imperfections. That same body would be a gift to someone fighting for their life. But we’re not sick — we’re just blind. Blind to what we have. Deaf to our own good fortune. Numb to the quiet, everyday miracle of simply existing. Because we’re convinced happiness lives somewhere else — in another city, another job, another house, another pair of hands. But the truth is… it’s here. In a closet full of clothes that somehow leaves you with “nothing to wear.” In a phone full of contacts that somehow leaves you with “no one to call.” In a calendar full of plans that somehow leaves you …More

THE CASSOCK The CASSOCK is a sign of consecration to God. Its black color is a sign of mourning. The priest is dead to the world, because everything worldly no longer attracts him. It is decorated with 33 buttons on the front, representing the age of Our Lord. There are 5 buttons on the sleeves, representing the 5 wounds of Our Lord. It also features 2 side clips that symbolize the humanity and divinity of Our Lord. The priest wears it with a band around his waist, a symbol of chastity and celibacy. Some have another 7 buttons on the upper arm, symbolizing the 7 sacraments, with which the priest comforts the faithful. The cassock is also a sacred remedy against vanity. While an ordinary man needs to spend time in front of his wardrobe or the mirror to check if that jacket matches that shirt or if the color of the tie is appropriate, the priest wears the cassock and that's it. You don't even need to ask yourself “what will I wear today?” Your outfit is one! Therefore, it is also a symbol …More

Gregory DiPippo: "One simply has to be willing to recognize the obvious truth, that the liturgical reform was not born out of Sacrosanctum Concilium. It was born out of the rejection of Sacrosanctum Concilium. The Church has paid an appallingly steep price for this rejection."

Did you know that when a squirrel finds an orphaned baby squirrel, the first thing she does is feed it and wait? She watches for a day… then two… then three — hoping the parents will come back. If no one shows up, she doesn’t walk away. She adopts the baby as her own. She feeds it, warms it, teaches it how to survive, and raises it right alongside her litter as if it had always belonged. Squirrels also have a tender ritual that most people never hear about: when a female greets her partner after he’s been out gathering food, she gently touches his face — as if to wipe the exhaustion off him. And the male shows love his own way: he brings her the best nuts he can find — walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds — whatever the forest has to offer. That’s how a squirrel family lives: Mom Squirrel, Dad Squirrel, and their babies — built on quiet care and mutual effort. But here’s the part that always stops biologists in their tracks: Roughly half of the seeds squirrels bury for “hard times” are …More
Military veterans aged 65 face being mobilised under new powers to prepare the Armed Forces for war. The Government is set to increase the age at which the nation’s pool of retired soldiers, known as the strategic reserve, can be called upon from 55 to 65. The new measures are being introduced as part of a new Armed Forces bill, which will be published in Parliament later. The changes will make it easier to mobilise tens of thousands of former military personnel. The Army has shrunk to its smallest number in more than 200 years, with just over 70,000 full-time, fully-trained troops ready to deploy to the frontline. Under existing rules, the pool of retired soldiers can be called upon in the event of “national danger, great emergency or attack in the UK”. However, under the new changes, this will be lowered to “warlike preparations”, which is already the threshold for reservists who have recently left the Armed Forces. The measures come amid fears Britain could be dragged into a full …
