Vaccine- and Israel apologist Trump is right here: London is no longer recognisable.

He's correct. Neither are many other cities in England.

Trump's not in trouble with me - he's telling the truth. I still live in the town I was born in. It's become virtually unrecognisable and dangerous. I am seriously considering selling up and moving. There have been two murders in the vicinity of my home - one yards away from my front gate.

@English Catholic I'm thinking of visiting England. I'm 65% English -the rest mixed with German, French and Spanish and I'd like to see the land of my ancestors. What parts of England would you recommend visiting? I'd like to stay clear of areas with high Muslim populations. Thanks.

@philosopher There are so many beautiful places, I wouldn't know where to start. It depends on what you like. Personally, I would stay away from large cities, where there is always more 'multiculturalism', and inevitably, higher crime (not always caused by immigrants, either). I personally love North Norfolk - one of the most unspoiled and beautiful parts of England - with the added bonus that the …More

I personally love North Norfolk - one of the most unspoiled and beautiful parts of England - with the added bonus that the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham is there. But there are so many other beautiful parts of England. If you come over, send me a Chat and when I know where you've decided to stay, I'll try and send you whatever information I can about that area, so you can get the most from your visit.

P.S. The region known as 'The Cotswolds' is also nice. Oxford is the nearest city and relatively unaffected by problems. Beautiful architecture. It's known as 'the city of dreaming spires'.

@English Catholic Thanks that's reassuring to hear. Most of the news in the US concerning England is either about the Royal family or knife crimes in London. It can give one a distorted picture.

I'm thinking of visiting in the up and coming year or so. I'm waiting for airline fairs to stabilize. They are really inflated right now, double what they were 1 and 1/2 years ago when I went to Italy. BTW on my way back I did go to Heathrow with a couple of hours layover, enough time to enjoy a local pint and some fried eggs and baked beans!

@philosopher Yes, the media does obsess about the Royal Family and crime in London, and it does give a distorted picture, although undoubtedly the crime is there. The same could be said of any major city I suppose. I was in Rome in 2000 and often didn't feel safe. I nearly had my rucksack snatched and we were constantly being hassled by Muslims and Roma to buy stuff from them (or they were trying …More

I have friends in Lancashire and have been there myself a few times. There are some Shrines up there or not far from there worth visiting. Again - rural parts in Lancashire are very nice, larger towns, not so nice. Never been to Northumberland. I apologise for Heathrow. Dreadful place. Hope you enjoyed your pint! I'd need several pints to get through Heathrow in a good mood! 😊
