Francis praised Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, who died on 4 April, for his alleged "witness as a pastor, a good shepherd", reports NcrOnline.com (10 April).
In a letter written for the prelate's 94th birthday on 26 January, Francis gave the very spiritual message that "bad weeds never die". Gumbleton was auxiliary bishop of Detroit from 1968 until his retirement in 2006.
He was a rigid and ideological homosexual activist and dissenter from Christ's teaching, for example on the non-existent ordination of women.
Homosexual propagandist Joseph Tobin, aka Archbishop of Newark, arranged for Francis to write to the "legendary bishop", said Sister Sue Sattler, a close friend of Gumbleton.
Had Gumbleton been a faithful servant of Christ, Francis would never have written to him.
