The glorious Messiah, conqueror of sin and death, is hailed by Sacred Scripture as the beginning, the firstborn of those who rise from the dead, so that He might have primacy over all things (Col 1:18); the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth, who loved us and cleansed us from our sins by His blood (Rev 1:5). Christ is the testis fidelis, the witness worthy of belief, for His testimony was brought to fulfillment through His faithfulness, even unto death.
