Α mosaic from Edessa, one of the earliest known portrait mosaics of Jesus Christ and the first in Anatolia, Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum, Şanlıurfa, Turkey.

Crafted in Edessa, we are probably looking at a close copy of Jesus Christ's imprint on the Holy Mandylion, the famous relic that was treasured and venerated in the same place, before being transported to Constantinople during the 10th century!
