Way of the Cross Installed for Lent in St Peter's Basilica: On February 20, a new Way of the Cross was inaugurated in St. Peter’s Basilica. The fourteen stations, which were created by Swiss painter Manuel Andreas Dürr, are displayed along the central nave during Lent. His proposal was praised for its compositional balance and expressive power. Dürr hopes that his works will be seen not as personal statements but as a harmonious continuation of the basilica’s long tradition of art and faith.

Lent, and most especially Holy Week, is meant to be a time of prayer, repentance, and real interior change. It is a sacred season given to us by Holy Mother Church so that we may slow down, examine our lives honestly, and return to God with humility. Yet a subtle temptation creeps in. Without even noticing it, some of us begin to measure our faith by how busy we are, filling our days with religious tasks and quietly assuming that activity must mean growth. We must say this clearly: service to the Church is good. Wanting to give more during the most solemn time of the year is not wrong. But we must look carefully at what actually happens. Church decorators can become consumed with planning floral arrangements, preparing the Altar of Repose, coordinating textiles, lights, and countless details. Choir members spend long evenings rehearsing and return home exhausted, still carrying work and family responsibilities. In places such as the Philippines, the camarero and those entrusted with …Bontsi

This week, Bill White, the US ambassador to Belgium, criticized the country for its approach to Jewish ritual circumcision and accused the country of antisemitism. White slammed Belgium’s handling of a case in Antwerp, where three Jewish men who perform ritual circumcision – known as “mohels” – are under judicial investigation after they allegedly carried out procedures without doctors present. In a long post on X, White demanded that Frank Vandenbroucke, Belgium’s health minister, intervene in the case. “TO BELGIUM, SPECIFICALLY YOU MUST DROP THE RIDICULOUS AND ANTI SEMITIC ‘PROSECUTION’ NOW OF THE 3 JEWISH RELIGIOUS FIGURES (MOHELS) IN ANTWERP! THEY ARE DOING WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO DO FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS,” White wrote. He called Vandenbroucke “very rude” and claimed the minister had refused to shake his hand or be photographed with him. “It was clear that you dislike America, the country that fought and where tens of thousands of our nation’s sons died for Belgium’s …Bontsi
On February 21, Leo XIV accepted the resignation of Archbishop Jean-Marie Speich as nuncio to the Netherlands. Monsignor Speich left The Hague only ten months after his appointment. Nuncios may retire upon reaching the age of 70 (and not only at 75). Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to The Hague in April 2025. He turned 70 in June 2025. Had Monsignor Speich truly planned to step down at 70, he could have requested to remain in Slovenia until his birthday and then taken his leave. He became known for his role as nuncio in Slovenia in connection with the Marko Rupnik case. Rupnik is accused by two dozen former nuns of sexual perversion. Monsignor Speich is considered responsible for Rupnik's incardination in the diocese of Koper (Capodistria). Born in Strasbourg on June 15, 1955, Speich was ordained a priest in 1982 for the Archdiocese of Strasbourg. He joined the Holy See's diplomatic service in 1986 and served in numerous countries, including Haiti, Nigeria, Bolivia, Canada …Bontsi
Pittsfield Cell Tower Concerned Citizens Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) exposure from electrical power grids, cell towers and wireless devices is likely a driver of the global increase in diabetes, according to a new report by Paul Héroux, Ph.D. Studies compiled by Héroux show that very low levels of EMR can affect how cells function, including how they handle glucose. The report — which includes over 280 citations — is a deep dive into the evidence suggesting that EMR exposure from electrical power grids and wireless radiation can dysregulate and raise blood sugar levels. “Current EMR safety standards are inadequate for protecting long-term metabolic health,” Héroux told The Defender. facebook.com/…trical-power-grids-cell- …
Well, after having fasting glucose over twice the expected, my doctor recommended a pill. Instead I pared back snacking and ate modestly less at meals. Over the next six months, I lost 11% of my body weight and reached a smidge over the target. Which continues to this day. There may be some linkage with EMR, but it would only when compounded with poor diet and weight.

...OF THE OUTSTRETCHED HAND (source: doncurzionitoglia.wordpress.com) Getting out of the "ghetto"? Some theorist/conservative Catholics, in order to escape the "ghetto" into which modernity has placed them, are accepting—inadvertently, slowly, and practically—if not the ideas, then at least the ways of acting of the Judaizers/Americanists ("forced COVID vaccination," anti-Putinism, pro-Zionism even after Gaza 2024/26, pro-Trumpism and anti-Iranianism, etc.). Unnoticed Theological Transshipment In short, we are witnessing an unnoticed theological transshipment toward Americanism, especially after the "Trump tornado," who is seen as the "new Saint Benedict (post-Ratzinger, Benedict XVI)," the restorer of neo-Christianity, stretching from the Atlantic to Israel. The intention to find a way out of the circumstances of today's very sad times reflects that of the naive (but not evil) person who accepts an insidious "outstretched hand," without realizing that that hand will then lead him …Bontsi
Robin Ward, 60, the former director (2006 to 2025) of the Anglican seminary St. Stephen’s House, was received into the Catholic Church on February 14 at St. Michael’s Abbey by Abbot Dom Cuthbert Brogan. Ward was ordained a cleric of the Church of England in 1992. A married father of two and a scholar of patristics and church history, Ward cited the influence of John Henry Newman - whose name he chose at confirmation - and said that questions about the nature of the church led him to convert. Since 1992, approximately 700 Anglican clergy and religious leaders in Great Britain have converted to Catholicism.
