In his Sunday Angelus audience, Pope Francis called for a prayer vigil for the whole Church. This will be “a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, in the Middle East, and throughout the world.” The vigil will take place on Sept. 7, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace. Pope Francis extended his invitation to “fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative.”

The British Daily Mail is excited that the pope has bowed for the Muslim Queen Rania of Jordan – quote – „in the latest display of breaking with tradition“ this according to the paper this has run counter to centuries of Catholic tradition. The Daily Mail brings to mind that the bow came after Francis posed for a selfie with teenage pilgrims in St Peter's Basilica.

Yesterday at 9:30AM, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI celebrated Mass for his former students who gathered last week for their traditional summer seminar at Castel Gandolfo. 50 people participated in the Mass. Among the concelebrants was the ultraliberal auxiliary bishop of Hamburg, Hans-Jochen Jaschke and Christoph Schönborn, archbishop of Vienna.

Most of the churches in France belong to the state and the mayors of each of the cities are responsible for them. But, many churches are abandoned and would be expensive to renovate. Therefore, according to the French Senate, 2800 of the churches could be demolished in the next few years. 250 are in an immediate danger.

Benedict was a pope who said Catholic things, but he promoted the liberals, unfortunately. And once he was gone, they took over.
