On 19 April, in a small ceremony, the façade of the Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini church in Rome was illuminated after several months of restoration. The church is served by the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP). It is the last oasis for Roman Rite Catholics, among hundreds of little-used Novus Ordo churches in the Eternal City. Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini was consecrated in 1616 and has statues of the four evangelists on its restored façade. They were added in 1723 by Francesco De Sanctis, a late Baroque Italian architect best known for designing the Spanish Steps. #newsGqgfmdouml

Bishop Gruss: People are not the enemy- hatred and the devil are the enemy Michigan bishop apologizes for calling President Biden ‘stupid’ | Catholic News Agency Michigan bishop apologizes for calling President Biden ‘stupid’ It was an extremely difficult letter to write. Bishop Gruss recently shared a story about forgiveness and the letter he wrote to his father decades ago. He told the story at the Cathedral on April 5. "It all surfaced on a five day retreat while in the seminary in Rome," said Bishop Gruss. "To make a long story short, I wrote a letter to my father sharing with him my feelings, my hurts, my anger, all the while reaffirming my love for him in spite of the disease of alcoholism. "I told him that I forgave him and in turn, I asked him for forgiveness for any time I failed to love him resulting from my anger and resentment toward him. "Writing this letter was very difficult. I agonized over it, not only from the standpoint of writing it, but from the standpoint of putting …More

Michael Hichborn of Lepanto Institute warns that the Catholic Church has turned a blind eye to the ‘industrialization’ of what used to be volunteer-run Catholic charities. Instead of being run by nuns and friars, as in the past, today, he notes, Catholic NGOs, including hospitals, are run by non-Catholics, often administrators, doctors and social workers, with agendas of their own that often contradict Catholic teaching. He cites a ‘Catholic’ NGO program in Lesotho and other African nations, that seeks to discuss masturbation and other ‘safe sex’ practices with minors as young as ten, and that promotes abortion as well as contraception. We discuss the fact that Catholic NGOs can offer tax deductions, and also receive government contracts and execute government agendas, without disclosure to the IRS. This allows billions of dollars to flow from unidentified and government sources through Catholic hospitals and charities - creating a situation ripe for money laundering. We also discussed …More

One day, as Agnes implored God in prayer to show her clearly what he seemed to be asking of her, St. Francis, St. Augustine, and St. Dominic appeared to her in a vision. Each Saint stood at the helm of his own ship, and invited her to join him on board. The poverty she had espoused as a Sister “del Sacco” endeared her to St. Francis; it was St. Augustine’s Rule she continued to follow as Abbess at Procena; but St Dominic spoke with authority: “Agnes will sail in my ship; that is the Will of God.” With that, he took her hand and drew her aboard.

Her story also has a Dominican post-script: only a few decades later, when St. Catherine of Siena visited St. Agnes’ tomb to venerate her incorrupt relics, the holy deceased nun actually raised her foot (lying there in the coffin) as the holy still-living tertiary bent to kiss it in reverence, so as to spare her the trouble of bending further down.

The Good Shepherd The Good Shepherd Liturgy of April 21st - Fourth Sunday of Easter Dear brothers and sisters, what is the spiritual experience that lies behind the metaphor of Jesus, the Good Shepherd who loves, knows, heals, strengthens and guides his sheep to green pastures and fresh, healthy waters? It is the experience we got every time that, tired and oppressed by our sins and by the inevitable adversities, injustices, violence and wars that life reserves for us, instead of despairing and feeling sorry for ourselves, we invoke Jesus, who is waiting for nothing else to make us feel, through of His Holy Spirit, His regenerating presence. In those moments, we feel like we are lifted high, capable of climbing the mountains of adversity and walking on the stormy seas of history. In those moments, we seem to perceive a foretaste of the immense joy that we will experience immersed in the Father's embrace of light in eternal life. This is a grace that empowers us and makes us capable of …More
